In 1876, Eduard Sacher founded the Hotel Sacher in Vienna. He was the son of the creator of the Original Sacher-Torte, a unique chocolate cake. Soon after its creation, the Sacher became a world famous meeting point for politicians, artists and the aristocracy. Since 1934, the hotel is run by the Gurtler family, who is very keen on maintaining the hotel's old tradition. From October 2005, our traditional hotel will thus boast a total of 152 elegant rooms and suites. The completion of the spa area is scheduled for the beginning of December 2005. With the two new top floors (floors 6 and 7) we are now able to offer 42 additional "Sacher light" rooms. Designed by interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon in cooperation with Dkfm. Elisabeth Gurtler, these new rooms have a splendid view of the city. Special attention has been paid to providing maximum comfort and the latest in technical equipment: all rooms feature wireless LAN, a Dolby Surround system, roof terraces, marble bathrooms with separate shower and toilet (some also have a bidet) as well as two washbasins, under-floor heating, illuminated vanity mirrors and plasma TV. But the 110 "old" rooms which are located on floors 1 to 4 are beautifully equipped too - elegant furniture, choice antiques and fine fabrics create a warm and luxurious atmosphere. Moreover, beautiful paintings and other decorative pieces of art give each room its own unique character and style
