The Hotel Cornavin is right next to the main station in Geneva which bears the same name, and is a good quality four star hotel. The hotel underwent a complete transformation in 1999 when it was not only renovated, but two more floors were added, with floor to ceiling glass walls.
The style of the hotel is ultramodern, and the rooms are extremely fresh and bright, with clean lines and a minimum of fuss. The rooms on higher floors enjoy an unparalleled view across Geneva to the Jet D'eau and the Mont Blanc beyond. All rooms are spacious and fitted with the latest technical equipment, but are designed so that everything is as intuitive as possible, so that guests don't have to spend their stay working out the intricacies of the hotel's airconditioning or hairdryers!
Bathrooms are the highlight of the rooms, featuring curved frosted glass walls, which mean more light in the bathroom, and a great look from the outside too. Some are clad in beige marble tiles, others in tiny blue mosaic tiles, each with style and elegance.
The owners of the Cornavin wanted to ensure that all guests could enjoy the views from the top floor, so instead of reserving this new level for expensive suites, has made the breakfast room up here. Floor to ceiling glass walls ensure an uninterrupted view over the rooftops of Geneva, across to the Cathedral on the hill in the old town, to the Jet D'eau and the Alps beyond.
Equally unique at this hotel is the clock you'll see in the atrium by the lifts. It has the largest pendulum in the world. Although the hotel backs onto the railway tracks and faces the busy square in front of the station, inside is calm and peaceful. Relax in the hotel's cosy lounge area, with comfy cream leather sofas arranged in friendly oval shapes.
NB. All rooms have en suite facilities.
