More than just an ordinary hotel, the Beau-Rivage is the oldest and only family owned hotel in Geneva, built in 1865 and still run by the Mayer family. Its lakeside location is second to none, on the Quai du Mont Blanc in the centre of Geneva, right next to the dock for lake steamers, and with a superb view of the Jet D'eau. The hotel's unique architecture centres on its atrium, a high ceilinged room with fabulous marble pillars. Rooms are all of an extremely high level of comfort, featuring 51 brand new renovated tastefully furnished executive rooms, which are on the side of the hotel facing the city of Geneva, and 22 deluxe (more traditionally styled) rooms which face onto the Lake or the Brunswick gardens. The Hotel has a two restaurants, Le Chat Botte (Puss in Boots) which serves fine French cuisine, and has a superb wine cellar. This restaurant is open every day for lunch or dinner, and has a pleasant terrace, open in the summer. Le Patara is the hotel's Thai restaurant, open weekeday evenings only, and features its own terrace in the summer. The hotel's bar, L'Atrium, serves aperitifs, cocktails, light dishes and afternoon tea.
