The hotel is situated south of Colchester England's oldest recorded town. Stanstead airport is only 24 miles from the hotel and Harwich International is a 20-mile drive. The hotel is situated set back from the main A12. Close enough to be convenient far enough away to be quiet.

The hotel lobby is medium in size and is quite bright with red walls and silk drapes. There is plenty of Space for groups and luggage, but very few seats. There is also a small reception desk and chandeliers.
The hotel restaurant is quite modern and provides a good selection of International cuisine, complimented by an extensive wine list and comfortable surroundings.
